Juvenile Non-Fiction Books

I have experience across multiple subjects in curriculum-aligned, high-interest, juvenile nonfiction, with special focus on varying Lexile levels and hi-lo books for striving readers.

For several years, I managed the Storymobile program at Reading is FUNdamental Pittsburgh, where I engaged directly with educators, parents, and underserved youth. As the purchaser for our program, I was responsible for choosing over 10,000 books each year to meet the interests and skill-levels of a diverse and high-need population.

Since then, I have authored over 100 titles— ranging in target grade from Pre-K to high school— that are currently available or forthcoming from various educational publishers. These include picture books, chapter books, and everything in-between, all written under specific grade-level guidelines.

Subjects include history, celebrity biographies, animals, sports, STEM, and more. In addition to writing juvenile non-fiction, I also edit book series and curate non-fiction curriculum content for future publishing. I am particularly passionate about opportunities for students to see themselves in books. Click here to read a recent interview about the Leaders Like Us series.

As a voracious reader, writer, editor, and literacy professional, I find juvenile nonfiction research and writing to be my “sweet spot,” that continually encourages and energizes me to be a better writer, reader, educator, and life-long learner.
